Please read below to understand our methods of classifying equipment.
EQUIPMENT CLASSIFICATIONS
The reason we classified our equipment is to help us define or assess a person’s skill level and how we determine pay rates and team placement.
This is how we decided on the Classifications:
For equipment in Class-1, a person with no experience on that machine, can be trained in 2 hours to the extent that they can then perform work in a productive way. This is in no way saying that the person will be completely efficient or won’t need further training, but merely that they can perform work effectively.
For equipment in Class-2, a person will need a significant amount of training and experience to be able to effectively perform most of the tasks that these machines are used for.
CLASS-1 EQUIPMENT
Off-road Truck
Water Truck
Roller/Compactor
Wheel Loader*
CTL (Skid steer)*
CLASS-2 EQUIPMENT
Excavator
Track Loader
Dozer
Motor Grader (Blade)
*The basic use of these machines can be trained in a few hours – therefore, we set them Class-1. They can also do much more advanced tasks with the appropriate operator skills.
