We specialize in land reclamation, land clearing, revegetation, drain projects, and brushmowing. We contract with coal mines, landfills, quarries, USALE, and many other entities.
Position Overview
Oak Hill Contractors is actively recruiting an estimator/project manager to join our growing team. The ideal candidate should be reliable and motivated, along with an adaptive personality and ability to work well with others. In depth understanding of construction procedures, material, and project management is pertinent. Daily responsibilities include preparing estimates for upcoming projects and bids, working directly with site supervisors, ensuring they have what is needed to successfully complete the project, and creating and building lasting client relationships. This position reports directly to the Senior Project Manager.
Ideal Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Experience in lieu of a degree will also be considered
- Ability to use or learn AutoCAD or similar software for following tasks
- Takeoffs for bidding
- Building files for GPS equipment
- Design/build for certain clients
- Topcon GPS Equipment – experience/willingness to learn software
- Survey experience / willingness to learn
- Flexible personality and ability to work well with others is mandatory for this position; includes ability to establish and build solid client relationships
- Must be able to multitask and work at multiple projects concurrently
- Ability to travel; usually day trips/overnight and back based on job location.
Duties
Estimating
- Review and understand project drawings and specifications
- Prepares and estimates budget costs for project by studying plans and specifications; quantify materials and labor needed for project
- Writes up and presents budgets, reports, and project plans
- Resolves cost differences by analyzing and collecting information
- Obtain any subcontractor/material quotes needed for project
- Ability to utilize AutoCAD or takeoff software for grading/designs
Project Management
- Create and build lasting relationships with clients, ensuring all their expectations are being met
- Plans all phases of the project lifecycle from initiation to completion; identifies features of work with clear paths and expectations for supervisor and client
- Develops and adheres to the budget, timeline, and quality control plan
- Schedule material deliveries ensuring no delays for the project
- Evaluate progress, monitor, and track production and quality for each project
- Provide any support/technical assistance needed by supervisor
- Responsible for project billing for contract and T&M work
- Prepare surface files for GPS equipment
- Travel to project sites as required
