Summary

At Hi-Way Paving, we are general contractors in the heavy civil construction field that specialize in significant amounts of concrete paving, storm drainage, and excavation on highways and airfields.

We are seeking a Heavy Civil Project Manager to lead our work in Charlotte, NC. Our Project Managers are responsible for the success of the project in both the execution and the outcome. This includes the overall responsibility for budgeting, scheduling, contract compliance, safety, quality of work, project closeout, and owner satisfaction. 

This position is ideal for someone who feels a strong sense of ownership over both the process and the results. While this leader will inspire others, and demonstrate our company values, they will not directly be responsible for staffing.

Responsibilities

• Manages the entire scope of the project from start-up to project completion and the entire close-out process.
• Directs and oversees field construction activity, subcontractors, and other field project(s) support activities.
• Writes and submits requests for information to engineering firms, project owners, and other stakeholders.
• Interfaces with the project owner and acts as a representative of Hi-Way Paving.
• Builds and develops relationships with material vendors and subcontractors related to that project.
• Collaborates with Superintendents and Foreman to ensure projects are completed in accordance with safety goals.
• Coordinates with Survey and Quality Control staff in project scheduling to ensure contract compliance.
• Manages the execution of the contract to meet the schedule and budget.
• Forecasts and monitors costs for job completion.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive construction project engineering or management experience, preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or similar discipline, preferred.
• Proficient at building project schedules in Primavera P6/Cloud software products.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience in managing construction projects and teams.
• Demonstrated success in developing client relationships.
• May require relocation or extensive travel (up to 100%) depending on project locations.
• Ability to gain clearance in restricted/high-security zones. (Airport AOA, Military Bases, etc.)
