Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring an Used Equipment Inspector. The Used Equipment Inspector is responsible for inspecting Caterpillar and competitor construction equipment to appraise and establish fair market value.  Perform demonstrations of features and benefits of new/used construction equipment to prospective customers.  

Requirements for the Used Equipment Inspector position include:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• High mechanical aptitude
• Ability to make decisions with limited supervision and guidance.
• Ability to learn new applications and adapt to changing technology
• Self-starter able to work with limited supervision and guidance.
• Must be able to conduct pre/post/periodic trip inspections to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
• Must have ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel or fluids and performing minor repairs.
• Must be able to travel frequently daily with ability to stay overnight as required.

Physical requirements must be met for the Rental Coordinator job, including the ability sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.  Able to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
