Estimator / Jr. Estimator - Commercial Carpentry
General Summary of Position
This position is expected to produce accurate quotes, review contracts and provide customers with a positive bidding experience with little to no assistance from senior management.
Essential (Core Competencies) Duties
- Produce mistake-free quotes as requested by our customers.
- Entering individual bid information accurately into Bid Matrix.
- Assist project management with any issues that may arise during a project.
- Participate in project descope and handoff meetings.
- Read through specs, addenda, and RFI’s and make appropriate changes to bid.
- Read and interpret working drawings.
- Build dollar amount of quote using material pricing, labor productions and quantities.
- Finalize quote and send to GC.
- Rebid project as required.
- Contact general contractor/client to discuss project details.
- Collect pricing from appropriate vendors by phone call and email.
- Follow template to create bid proposal.
- Contact the specific Architect firm and request the bid list when applicable
Marginal Functions:
- Assist in bid review for Jr. Estimators.
- Perform contract review to ensure the scope of work, contract dollars and documents match the quote.
- Download drawings and applicable construction documentation from appropriate file share sites.
- Import drawings to OnScreen Takeoff.
- Special projects as assigned by management.
- Create and manage personal database within On-Screen Takeoff and QuickBid.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or related study.
- 2+ years estimating for a commercial carpentry subcontractor.
- Prior commercial carpentry experience.
- Experience in Quickbid and OnScreen Takeoff.
- Knowledge of customer base and customer relations.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints though not required for the position

Work Environment
The work environment will consist mainly of a normal, climate controlled, office environment.
