To provide effective demonstration, safety, operation, and application training to Plateau Excavation’s field team, The Equipment Training Instructor will know how to safely and correctly operate all equipment and teach all employees how to safely and correctly operate machines.  The incumbent will conduct product demonstrations and narration from the cab, as well as safety, operation, and application training, which display a proven set of operating/application skills. These duties require an incumbent to possess a minimum of 10 years of operator experience in heavy construction, quarry/aggregates, and or mining industries. The incumbent gains broad operation skills, application expertise, and the ability to employ a wide range of demonstration, evaluation, analytical, and communication techniques and tools.

Specifics to the Role

• Reports to the Vice President of Equipment
• Will teach employees how to safely and correctly operate construction equipment and provide certifications for each piece of equipment.
• Provide re-training as needed to employees.

Required

• Must have a minimum of 10 years of operator experience in heavy construction, quarry/aggregates, and or mining industries.
• Must possess the ability to train employees from various cultures.
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Can communicate clearly with the Vice President and Operators.
• Can operate all earthmoving equipment
• Requires sound knowledge of earthmoving equipment and their application

What we expect

• Stay up to date with industry equipment practices
• Support Superintendents, foremen and operators as needed so they can successfully construct a project.
• Can teach pre-operations equipment checklist.
• Ensure safety devices are functional, such as seat belts, back-up alarms, fire extinguishers, horns, glass, etc.
• Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment.
• Work more than 40 hours per week, including some weekends.
• Willingness and ability to travel 50% to out-of-state projects
• Lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
• Physically climb on and off equipment safely.
• Work in shop or field environment and tolerate all weather climates.
• Abide by Plateau (PEI) safety policy.

Items to know

• Training will be onsite in Plateau’s office or in the field. Projects are generally in Georgia and extend from Mississippi to Virginia.
• 50% travel required.
• English required Spanish as a secondary language preferred.
